Shanghai

Where Ultra-Modern Meets Old-World Charm Step into the future while walking through the past. Shanghai is China’s most dynamic metropolis, a globally connected financial hub that still holds onto its rich, glamorous history. Stand on the historic waterfront of The Bund, lined with majestic colonial-era architecture, and look across the Huangpu River to the towering, neon-lit skyscrapers of Lujiazui—a skyline that feels straight out of a sci-fi movie. But the magic of Shanghai isn't just in its heights. Lose yourself in the peaceful pavilions of the classical Yu Garden, shop the trendy boutiques hidden under the plane trees of the French Concession, or take the world’s fastest commercial train, the Maglev, right from the airport. Whether you're indulging in world-class soup dumplings (Xiaolongbao) or taking a mesmerizing nighttime river cruise, Shanghai delivers an electric, unforgettable, world-class experience.

FAQ’s about Shanghai

When is the best time of year to visit Shanghai?
The most comfortable times to visit are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). The temperatures are perfect for walking along The Bund or exploring the French Concession. Summers (July and August) can be very hot and humid, while winters are chilly and damp.
Which airport should I fly into?
Shanghai has two major airports. Pudong International Airport (PVG) handles most international flights and is located further from the city center, though you can take the incredible 430 km/h Maglev train into town! Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) is closer to the city center and primarily handles domestic flights and high-speed trains to other Chinese cities. Our tours include seamless airport transfers from both.
Do you offer trips to Shanghai Disneyland?
Yes! Shanghai Disneyland is a massive draw for families. It features the largest enchanted castle of any Disney park and the incredible TRON Lightcycle Power Run. We can easily add a customized, hassle-free day trip to Disneyland into your Shanghai itinerary, including tickets and private transport.
Is Shanghai just a modern city, or is there history to see?
It has a brilliant mix of both! While the Pudong skyline is ultra-modern, the historic heart of the city is fully preserved. You will explore the 400-year-old Yu Garden, the Shikumen (traditional stone-gate houses) of Xintiandi, and the 1920s European architecture along The Bund.
What is the must-try local food?
You cannot leave without trying Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings). These delicate, steamed buns are filled with hot, savory broth and pork. Our guides know the absolute best, authentic local spots to grab these so you can skip the tourist traps!
